Portrait of Peiman Ataei, founder of DroneDev Academy

Hi, I am Peiman. I teach what I build.

I’m a Drone Software Engineer and Android Developer with more than 10 years of software engineering experience. For the last 5+ years, I have focused on DJI-based autonomous drone systems and industrial drone applications.

I design and build software for automated flight missions, waypoint navigation, camera control, real-time telemetry, data acquisition and inspection workflows. My work covers solar farms, wind turbines, agriculture and infrastructure, and I test everything in the simulator and in the field.

I am also a PhD candidate in Computer Science at the University of Genoa, Italy. My research is an AI-powered autonomous drone system that finds faults in solar fields, using computer vision and thermal imaging.

With DroneDev Academy, I want to help developers go from their first drone connection to real apps that fly.

Questions people ask

Who is the course for?

Android developers who are new to drones, and students who want a practical start. You should know some Android, Kotlin or Java. You do not need to know anything about drones.

Do I need a drone?

Not for everything. A simulator can run a lot of the code without flying. To test on a real aircraft you need a supported DJI drone and its remote controller. The course page will list the exact setup.

Which drones and which SDK do you teach?

The first course uses the DJI Mobile SDK V5 (MSDK V5) on Android. Which drones work depends on DJI’s own support list for that SDK. PX4 and ArduPilot courses come after that.

When does the course launch?

There is no fixed date yet. People on the early-access list get the invitation first, before the public launch. Join the early-access list.

Can you work with my company or university?

Yes. I work as an advisor or tutor for online drone courses, and I can build custom courses, training, workshops and webinars. Send an inquiry and I will reply by email. Send an inquiry.
